Vivian Chesterley
#1 Joi de vie
Pacific NW Oil Painting
My work sits somewhere between abstract and realistic in my paintings of sea and sky. Rich textures, layers of color, and artist’s marks create a sense of movement, atmosphere and energy.
I love the saltwater: it’s moods, how it always changes, how the light interacts with the waves, sometimes soft, sometimes with graphic lines, sometimes with an explosion of color. I try to reflect these feelings onto canvas, hoping that the viewer can sense the power and majesty of sea and sky, feel like they are there.
My paintings have been chosen for nationally juried shows across the country, but my home gallery is right here in Poulsbo, WA, Front Street Gallery, where you can see my paintings on exhibit 7 days a week. You can see more of my work on my website: vchesterley.artspan.com.
